KRISHI INTEGRATED RURAL DEVELOPMENT
SOCIETY
SUCCESS STORIES...
26th October 2005 – Apparel training Centre
Even
as the issue of reservation of jobs for backward classes in the private
sector remains in the back burner, the Apparel Training Centre (ATC)
has opened a window of opportunity to train women belonging to the rural
community in the apparel sector. The response received from the rural
women was pressing our initiative to plan for additional training centers
in neighboring villages.
There are about 130 candidates already enrolled and a batch of 32 candidates
considered for training in first phase. The training centre was inaugerated
by local M.L.A, Mrs.Konda Surekha while Mr.Janardhan, a Circle Inspector
from Hasanparthy and other leaders participated the programme and encouraged
the society to organize similar programmes for the benefit of the poor.
ATC, sponsored by “Corps Technology & Educational
Society”, Hyderabad and signed a memorandum of understanding
with the "Krishi Integrated Rural Development Society" to
extend institutional support for any kind of training programme society
organizes. This would ensure that the women belonging to the rural community
would get immediate employment and the apparel industry throughout the
country would get additional trained manpower.
In addition to the training, Krishi shall try to get support from the
District Rural Development Agency to accord any subsidy while providing
necessary employment support to the successful trainees.

25th July 2005 - Belladona Medicine
distribution programme
As
a part of its focus on children and health, Krishi organized belladonna
medicine distribution programme to all children from government and
private schools coming under its vicinity. Krishi believes in children
and better world would be possible when we could mould children in a
productive manner. Usually, children’s health demands high attention,
therefore Krishi belief is that “PREVENTION IS
BETTER THAN CURING”.
Children : Severe side effects
may be more likely to occur in infants and children, especially those
with spastic paralysis or brain damage. Unusual excitement, nervousness,
restlessness, or irritability and unusual warmth, dryness, and flushing
of skin are more likely to occur in children, who are usually more sensitive
to the effects of belladonna alkaloids. Also, when belladonna alkaloids
are given to children during hot weather, pyrexia may occur. Adults
: Confusion or memory loss; constipation; difficulty in mictiruition;
drowsiness; dryness of mouth, nose, throat, or skin; and unusual excitement,
nervousness, restlessness, or irritability may be more likely to occur
in the elderly, who are usually more sensitive than younger adults to
the effects of belladonna alkaloids and barbiturates. Also, eye pain
may occur, which may be a sign of glaucoma.

July 2005 - Stop school drop outs…
Today, although most students
in India complete school, a large number still drop out because of family,
social and work pressures. This problem requires serious action from
both individuals and the government.
Most students who do not complete school do so because of family problems.
Girls, especially, want to get married and start a family. Some parents
are not interested in education and do not support their children in
studying. Social problems are also a contributing factor. Education
is compulsory but, despite this, some people do not take it seriously.
Furthermore, jobs are available even if students do not have a good
education. The third reason is work pressure. Some families are poor
and need their children to work in order to increase the income. All
these problems will create young people who do not have any skills and
who will not be able to improve their lives for the family and the country.
Krishi identified such children who have stopped their education or
irregular due to work pressure from their parents. It is observed that
more children stop attending their schooling due to their parents’ inability
to purchase necessary books, clothing and stationary. We have done a
survey on this issue and observed that due to lack of rains from the
past few years lead to massive drought; result villagers have no agriculture
and no job to run their livelihood. These reasons forced parents to
keep children engaged by assigning petty jobs at home or at fields.
Krishi has taken a decision
to address the issue and help the parents to relieve from this burden.
Mr.Kumara Swamy a senior supervisor from BSNL, Warangal came forward
to support the programme. Necessary arrangements are made to ensure
the children resume their schooling by providing clothing, books, foot
wear, school bags and stationary. Charming innocence and glowing smile
on the faces of children and their parents gave a great inspiration
to the organizers to march on to other issues.
